Juliet Ezenwa Pearce Biography

 

Born July 30, 1968 in Ndokwa West, Delta State, Nigeria, she was first introduced to the creative world of painting and drawing by her grandmother, a traditional wall decorator.

 

She holds a BA in Fine Arts and Education from Bendel State University.

 

Since 1990, she has delved into different media. Her primary purpose is to produce art that will remain relevant. In the early 1990s, she painted mainly watercolours but also worked extensively in acrylics. She has and still produces works in oils and pastel.

 

She has been in the forefront of the campaign for upholding the rights of the girl-child. Her works on those themes have been exhibited in Canada, Germany, the UK and the US.

 

More recently, she has been experimenting with mixed-media methods using mirrors and found objects. she now produces what she calls paintergraph.Her  2011 solo exhibition in Portsmouth was a collection of paintergraph plates and prints.

 

Her most recent shows include the October, 2015 Bonhams ‘Africa Now’ art auction, and a two-person show at the Grace, Belgravia in March, 2016.
